Application prospects of Bulletproof Uhmwpe fabric
 Jul 25, 2022|View:43

Bullet-proof clothing is used to protect the human body from the bullet or shrapnel damage of a single soldier protective military clothing, mostly vest-shaped. Bulletproof UHMWPE fabric is dominated by high-performance textile fibers, which are much higher in energy absorption capacity than general materials, endowing the body with bulletproof functions, and because bulletproof UHMWPE fabric generally adopts the structure of textiles, therefore, it has considerable flexibility, known as soft body armor.

Due to its good impact resistance and larger energy absorption, the fiber can be made into protective clothing material, helmets, and bullet-proof material in the military, now it has become the main fiber to occupy the bulletproof vest market. In addition, bulletproof UHMWPE fabric's impact load ratio (U/P) is 10 times that of steel and more than twice that of fiberglass and aramid. When a bullet hits bulletproof UHMWPE fabric, the first thing it touches is a hard bulletproof material such as steel plate or reinforced ceramic material. In this instant contact process, the bullet and the rigid bulletproof material may be deformed or broken, the bullet consumed most of the energy. As the backing and second line of defense of bulletproof UHMWPE fabric, high-strength fiber fabric absorbs and diffuses the energy of the remaining part of the bullet, and acts as a buffer to reduce the non-penetrating damage as much as possible. In these two bullet-proof processes, the former played a major role in energy absorption, greatly reducing the penetration of the projectile, which is the key to bullet-proof. The bulletproof and anti-riot helmets made of fiber reinforced resin composite materials have become substitutes for steel helmets and aramid reinforced composite helmets abroad.

Because of these characteristics, woven UHMWPE fabric is widely used in aviation, safety protection, weapons, aerospace, electronics, navigation, building materials, shipbuilding, sports, medical and other fields.
